According to a Press Release issued by Humpy Koneru herself she is having problems with a member of the AICF ("All India Chess Federation") ... in Chessbases's Official Report she even brings up the older (but still boiling) issue brought by Indian GM G.N. Gopal.

"Mr. Sundar is testing my patience during all these times. Every time I am adjusting myself and letting things pass on without making an issue. But every now and then he is troubling me. Now I am bringing all these things to the notice of everyone because I can not bear this any longer.

If a world level player like me is suffering so much because of Mr. Sundar, what is the position of upcoming players? It’s time for everyone to think of it."

GM G.N. Gopal has, according to Chessbase, been now officially had his one year ban from tournaments by the AICF removed.

This action by the AICF was obviously too harsh and the reversal was a great victory for Chess in India. I for one am very pleased to see this triumph of political process. It doesn't happen often enough so let's savor it. Congratulations to G.N. Gopal!

As reported by Chessdom GM G N Gopal has been bannef by the All Indian Chess Federation (AICF) from participating in national team and other types of AICF organized events.The problem came about when Gopal failed to appear during the National A Championship. Apparently there is a rule requiring professional players below 2650 to play in this event. As a result a one year event ban has been put into effect

I find it hard to believe that in a civilized society such a rule is acceptable and I hope the Chess Players Association of India (CPAI) keeps fighting such ridiculous requirements and strict rules. Where is the love, AICF?
