Many of you are still just adding me on facebook instead of adding Chessvine.com's facebook page. To remedy this I'm adding this blog post as well as a small add at the top of every page of the blog advertising the page. You see, i'm a greedy social media neophyte and I want as many friends as I can get to like chessvine.com's page!

The internet chess community has somewhat stagnated in recent months. There is even a shortage of chess news that is in my opinion worthy of this site at the moment. SO ... in the interest of increasing communication between chess enthusiasts I'm going to offer myself as the "internet connector".

Because of her response to this recent article I ran over to the UTB Scorpion blog to check out what WIM Luciana Morales was writing about. What do I find but plenty of evidence to support the idea that Luciana is a busy little bee ...Hopefully she won't tear my head off for saying that ... or offer to play me a chess match ... yikes!

Unbelievably, I come to find out that I'm part of the UTB blogs blogroll ... no doubt due to my capacity as the leader of both chess blogger groups on facebook. Luciana is on facebook and is pretty active (perhaps not as compulsive or obsessive as me, but that's another story).

I look down the blogroll and see that "Lizzyknowsall" (aka Elizabeth Vicary) is also listed so I cruise over there (did I mention I'm obsessive?).

I find this article by Liz regarding women and chess talent. I just love Ms. Vicary's writing style. She doesn't care how you'll take what she has to say but she's not afraid to lay all her cards on the table. She's on my facebook friends list too so the plot at this point has thickened for me. I'm starting to see a trend.

For the past week or so I've been actively recruiting people on facebook to the 9Queens Cause.

For Those who don't know the position of 9Queens and their cause here it is in two simple sentences:

1. Chess is a powerful educational tool with the potential to motiviate, empower and engage under-served and under-represented youth.

2. Everyone- regardless of economic or social background- should have the opportunity to play and enjoy chess.

I encourage you to support the 9Queens cause by joining the cause on facebook, recruiting others, and donating.
