Round 10 For the US Team in the Chess Olympiad in Dresden



The US is ranked 8th in men and 5th in women teams at the Dresden Olympiad. What mistakes did they make? I think there has been a lot of pressure this year to repeat past excellent performances. For example take the appointment of Kaidanov as the coach for the women's team. I know Kaidanov to emphasize calculation and he's likely to have given the women's team a study regimen prior to playing in the event. That may mean in a sense they have some burnout. Anyway, I think they've recovered from the upsets and are well prepared to face the stronger opponents at the olympiad. I'm rooting for the women and the men too.
